Two months ago, on Aug 9 (which happens to be my wedding anniversary!), we got to celebrate OnRamp client #75... and this one's extra special! We were blessed to donate this reliable #Toyota Rav4 to Naomi, the new Director of Survivor Advocacy at Unbound Bryan College Station, a ministry that supports survivors and resources our community to fight human trafficking in the Brazos Valley. Naomi needed a reliable vehicle not only to get herself to work and around town, but also as a means to transport trafficking survivors and their children. So through the gift of one SUV, OnRamp can bless many people in need of rescue and recovery! Thank you to my good friend Roy Brantley who brought Naomi to us and seems to have his hands in so many amazing charitable works in our town, to Bettye Bullock and Ginny Brown who took point on this case, Rami Cerone who yet again found an amazing vehicle for us, Christian Brothers Automotive for getting it ready, and Austin McLelland for tracking down replacement seats in Houston and installing them himself! This one took a team!
And while I've got you here, please make yourself aware of the vital work Unbound Bryan College Station is doing in our community by visiting their website and signing up for their newsletter. Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world, with an estimated 40.3 million victims worldwide. But what I didn't realize until talking this morning with Naomi is that sex trafficking isn't just a problem in less-developed nations... it's a problem right here in the U.S. and especially in Texas! Texas ranks #2 in the nation for human trafficking frequency, and Houston ranks as the #1 city in the nation for this crime! This is not a problem "out there"... it's "right here" in our own backyard. I'm so grateful to have learned more today about what God is doing through UnboundBCS to rescue women, men, and children from this scourge.
One final note... TOYOTA, this was a great vehicle for our ministry to give away to someone! Send us all the used Rav4's you've got!!
