God allowed OnRamp to squeeze in one more vehicle donation before Christmas, a Camry to a hard-working single mom of two young kids (we’re keeping her identity and pictures private). She attends Blinn where she’s working hard towards a degree in health care so she can provide a better life for her children. She also works as many hours as possible at a local grocery store. But all of these endeavors require reliable transportation. When her previous vehicle died a few months ago, all of her progress was thrown into jeopardy.
Fortunately, this client had a caring advocate at Project Unity where she participates in their “Parenting Wisely” and “Family Self Sufficiency” programs. According to her advocate, “Her strength is that she does not give up. She is willing to go to school and [finish her degree] to be able to provide for her children in a way that shows them if you work hard and study hard you can become any thing that you want.” OnRamp accepted her as a client, but required her to work through budget training, open a savings account, and secure a better paying job… all steps she’s completed.
On Tuesday we gifted this reliable Toyota Camry to her and her children, bought out of Houston from a particularly kind seller who not only gave us a good price, but drove it to College Station for us! Stephanie Mason took the lead on this donation, pictured with the gift bags we try to give all our clients (bible, jumper cables, pressure gauge, various car cleaning wipes, etc.) As always, a huge thanks to our Client Care team, especially Ginny Brown and Abigail McDougal for leading in this interview, as well as Christian Brothers Auto and Discount Tire for getting this vehicle ready to go.
From all of us at OnRamp, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Years. We pray that God will bless you with opportunities to serve individuals in need this coming year!
