Presenting OnRampDFW Client #1!!!! We are so excited to share this remarkable story. We at OnRamp in BCS have labored this last year to train and equip a phenomenal team of leaders in Dallas who launched OnRampDFW a few months ago. Though they use our processes, systems, and expertise, they are an independent 501c3 called by God to build their own OnRamp ministry to serve the thousands of individuals in need in the greater Dallas/Ft Worth area. Two months ago they chose their first clients, Isaac and Nadia! These parents of 9 kids, 6 still at home, moved to the United States from South Sudan in 1999, fleeing the religious persecution that destroyed their home and endangered their lives. Their family has blossomed in their new life in Dallas. Through the years, they have faced the challenges of life with character, and are known in their community for being trustworthy, resilient, and full of optimism.
In October of 2021, their family minivan was totaled when it was involved in a hit-and-run accident. With used vehicle prices skyrocketing due to pandemic shortages, the insurance money they received plus their savings wasn’t nearly enough to replace the vehicle. Isaac and Nadia were immediately thrust into a financial predicament. Both of them worked in order to provide for their large family, but without the minivan, Nadia was forced to quit her job, which caused additional financial hardship. Not surprisingly, each month since then has found them further away from being able to replace their vehicle and get back on their feet.
As in BCS, public transportation is simply insufficient to solve this need. It took Nadia 3-4 hours each day to get to and from work by the bus, which proved impossible for a mother with six children at home. Although Nadia’s former employer stands ready to hire her back, she is unable to physically get to the work location.
But God is faithful! Yesterday (Valentine’s Day no less!) OnRampDFW gifted this beautiful Honda Odyssey to Isaac and Nadia. It’s large enough to fit them all, and reliable enough to ensure Nadia can return to her job and the family can get back on their feet. In God’s kindness, the van is actually the exact same make, model, and year as the one they lost in the hit and run accident. Our Father is truly in the details. Seeing the van, Nadia wiped away a tear, and Isaac told us “maybe this horrible thing happened so that we could meet you and have this connection.”
We are praising God for this opportunity to partner with this stellar team in Dallas to love their DFW community! We’re so proud of you, David, Jackie, Jon, and Aaron. HUGE THANKS to Christian Brothers Automotive, Miranda of For the Nations Refugee Outreach, Woodcreek Church and ALL volunteers and supporters.
